Hmm, let's see beyond the obvious:
50% jump in Amateurs-very good!
40% jump in Intermediates-not so good but close.
21% jump in Pros-aha! I see what Shinji is saying about his worries. I guess it is time to YELL in the Pro category too, hehe.
Thnx Rado, this will back up my concern about interests in the contest and thus modding. Times DO favor mods then, hmm...
The only thing I was expecting was a bunch more or maybe my perception was fooled by the large peak and then fall-off. Things really went well from the July 4-7 but then tapered off. A few hang around to comment and revisit and I got a couple of chewings out (probably my fault, not complaining). I was sort of expecting the inertia to continue, even with the chewing outs (they are still interests and comments after all).
Hasta luego and Muchas Gracias again

As I got all of the few lights I put into Up and Away to work again, I decided to take a pic of them outside at dusk. I was hoping on pics like those of Falloutboy with Melanie in the Outback sunset but these are the best I could get. My camera is just a modest and lowly Polaroid (7Mpixels, 3X, f 2.8-6.2 plastic lens (looks like plastic) point-and-shoot affair) with a slow lens.
Anyways, this being all I have, I got these:
I leave you with this perspective and a bit of hot air balloon humor.
A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts: "Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?" The man below says: "yes you're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field." "You must work in Information Technology," says the balloonist. "I do," replies the man. "How did you know?" "Well" says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but it's no use to anyone." The man below says, "You must work in Management". "I do" replies the balloonist, "but how did you know?" "Well", says the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you're going, but you expect me to be able to help. You're in the same position you were before we met, but now it's my fault."

Perfecto!

Just a short video of the base that contains the small light kit taken from a box the wife was tossing out, that lit 5 tiny leds randomly. I used it to give a "firefly" effect under the basket but it is hardly visible when all the lights are on so I made this separately so that it wouldn't be lost.
An American man, a Russian man, and an African man were all up in a hot-air balloon together. After a few minutes, the Russian man put his hand down through the clouds. "Aaah!" he said. "We're right over my homeland." "How can you tell?" asked the American. "I can feel the cold air," he replied. A few hours later the African man put his hand through the clouds. "Aah we're right over my homeland," he said. "How do you know that?" asked the Russian. "I can feel the heat of the desert." Several more hours later the American put his hand through the clouds. "Aah, we're right over New York." The Russian and the African were amazed. "How do you know all of that?!" they exclaimed. The American pulled his hand up and said, "My watch is missing.

lol PaPang! "My watch is missing..."
Buen chiste americano!
Si da igual si me integro o no...!
jajaja!
I had been trying for 4 days to get my final video out, and I swear I did my best but, as I mentioned to Sparhawk who is after one too, my mod is too darn high to take a good vid in my usual "studio" which is the kitchen microwave table top. Panning would bring into the scene the fridge, the stove, the tv, etc. besides requiring two double bed sheets for the background. The wife just happened to put the ones I use (light peach) on the bed and they are all wrinkled, sigh...
This meant a total overhaul of the "studio" so looking around the house, I chose a corner of the guest bedroom which is more sparsely furnished than the rest of the house which has stuff dripping from every nook and cranny.
My weapon of choice (don't laugh):
A digital Kodak ZX-1 that my wife gave me for Christmas last year. It is great for quickie uploads to Youtube, compact in size, stores a bunch (4gb) and is a snap to upload content. I do have better equipment but they are analog and quite old which scratches them off for using.
Back to reality, the ZX-1 lacks: a faster lens (might be plastic?), anti-shake mechanism, a pause button (I really miss this!), integrated lighting/flash, a smooth zooming mechanism, optical zoom (ouch!) and a better ccd (3mpixel max). Just what you'd expect from a $100 usd vidcam! BTW the price dropped down a lot by now and it is still the best ticket for getting video on a tight budget.
However, I have always said, if you are not into filming/taking pro level vids, and don't want to invest a lot for better stuff, you have to be CREATIVE, hehe. Guys appreciate pro level vids (so cool!) but they also realize that most of the contestants are of modest incomes, into modding moreover than anything else, and are well, "regular Joes" in all other aspects. They remember that this is a case mod contest, not a photography or video contest and thank goodness for that!
I will mention in another chance what was done to the new "studio" but without further adue; please follow the link below till Chipp or someone gives us the lowdown on how to embed video in the forum:
papang great, good video and perfect music, hopefully go up those votes.:D
Hehe, thanks Iwok, glad you liked the music because Nemisis thought it was sort of "unusual" which as I have mentioned before, goes back to how close you adhere to your theme. You might have chosen a "drinking song" to reinforce your case theme but I guess you didn't have any in mind.
Remember that to make a stand-out case (not necessarily the people's choice), you have to start from the beginning: CHOOSE A THEME. If you don't, you will end up with a look-alike mod from someone you admire and will usually end up either being totally black or totally white or some other solid color scheme.
Keep in mind some contests require you mod to a certain theme like the soccer football theme from a known case manufacturer which is happening now. Here you have to be creative so as to not only use stickers or paint for the theme.
This of course, sent me searching and I came up with this article on e-How by an anonymous contributor which might further deepen your case mod knowledge and help some here broaden their sights. My comments are highlighted within the article.

How to Customize Computer Cases

If you are among the many computer fans out there, you've probably heard the term "mod the box". Modding is the slang term for modifying. This term is much more familiar when being applied to automobiles (remembering Warfarin's comment before) though it is definitely applied to people interested in making aesthetic changes to the world around them. Keep reading to learn how to customize computer cases according to your tastes.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging (Really challenging if you set the bar high)
Instructions
Step 1
Create a theme or overall plan for your box. Make sure the theme you select is one that means something to you ((extremely important). It could be a favorite movie, a fantasy theme, aliens or even a favorite school mascot. (You have to feel very attached to the theme so that it will be an "Iwok original" if not, you will start leaning on the mods and creations of others, and that is a no-no)
Step 2
Make a list of items you will need or would like in order to carry out that theme. Computer cases are great when it comes to things that can be customized because they are essentially a blank canvas. (For a superb mod, choose a case that is not very pre-modded to set your creativity loose. Better yet, if you can, make your own case!))
Step 3
Use your imagination. You can mod your computer to many different shapes, sizes, colors and overall styles limited only by your creativity and budget (A budget, wth? Yes, highly recommended, I learned the hard way and got foreclosed).
Step 4
Set a budget and plan your mods within those limits (overlooked by too many modders who get into $$$ problems). It is very important since computers are expensive in and of themselves. When it comes to extensive modifications to the box, the expenses can add up quickly and unexpectedly. You might be surprised at just how creative this budgeting forces you to be when it comes to customizing your case. (It sure happens, when the budget impedes you from using an expensive 3rd party work, you have to get creative, no two ways about it. Perfectly adequate for the times!)
Step 5
Read all about it. There are many websites that are dedicated to computer mods and case customizations. Read them thoroughly before you begin. You may be able to learn a lot from the advice, tips, tricks and failures of those who have gone before you. (Emphasis con "failures", don't stick your foot in the same hole! Great modders will give you these tips)
Tips & Warnings
*
Make sure that the mods you are making to the computer case do not interfere with the performance of the computer. More specifically, do not allow your customizations interfere with the airflow or you will find your computer overheating at an alarming rate. (Excellent tip for the un-initiated, but we knew this, right?)
-----------------------
I know you are already thinking of next years mod and wanted to give you the lowdown if you are not thinking of pulling something else from the family attic/basement (about to be thrown out stuff), hehe. You can PM me of your idea later on and we will see as usual.
Cheers and Saludos
